Vermont Nut Free Chocolates is dedicated to producing high-quality chocolates and confections that are safe for individuals with tree nut and peanut allergies. Established in 1998 by Gail and Mark Elvidge, parents of a child with a severe peanut allergy, the company was born out of the necessity to provide allergen-free treats for their son’s safety. Recognizing the lack of nut-free chocolate options on the market due to cross-contamination risks, Gail began crafting homemade chocolates in their Vermont home to ensure their son could enjoy this childhood pleasure without risk.
Driven by love for their son and a passion for chocolate, Gail and Mark founded Vermont Nut Free Chocolates, initially operating out of their home kitchen. After two years of handcrafting chocolates, the company expanded and moved its operations to the picturesque Lake Champlain Islands. Recently relocated to Colchester, Vermont, the company maintains its commitment to nut-free production in a dedicated facility, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. Their product range includes tanabar / granola bars, named after their son Tanner, along with a variety of nut-free chocolate bars and covered pretzels, offering delicious snack options suitable for school lunches, travel, and outdoor activities.
