Established in 1824 within the cozy confines of the Crowley family kitchen, Crowley Cheese holds a storied place in American culinary history. In 1882, Winfield Crowley erected the Crowley Cheese Factory adjacent to the family farm, a revered institution now enshrined as a National Historic Place. Today, it proudly stands as the oldest continuously-operating cheese factory in the United States, a testament to the enduring legacy of craftsmanship and tradition.
Nestled amidst the scenic beauty of Mount Holly, Vermont, our historic cheese factory beckons visitors to step back in time and witness the age-old art of cheese making. Here, amidst the idyllic surroundings near Okemo Mountain, guests can marvel at the meticulous craftsmanship employed in the production process, which relies solely on hand tools and traditional methods. It’s an immersive experience that offers a glimpse into a bygone era of artisanal cheese production.
After exploring the factory, guests are invited to peruse our Factory shop, where Crowley Cheese and other esteemed Vermont delicacies await.
